Give me your essentials....

Fooooooood. Cereal bars, fruit, etc. Toothbrush, face wash, soap, moisturiser. Spare pants n socks. PHONE CHARGER. Ey mask and ear plugs. Dressing gown and slippers. And, if you’re talking about post childbirth, pull up incontinence pants (so much more comfy and effective than maternity pads).

Energy tablets (lucozade, dextrose) for during labour.
Maternity pads
I took 2 long night shirts to wear during labour and additional one incase I had a messy labour.
A fresh set of comfy Button down pj's for post birth.
Socks
Snacks for post birth
Water or juice drinks
Baby grows
Baby vests
Going home outfit I took joggers and a top. Just anything comfy and loose.
I also took a toothbrush
Travel shampoo
Just incase I had to stay over.

Peri bottle (buy a good one) and soothing spray, if you can get Dermoplast for pain and itch relief it can help in postpartum care.
Hat for the baby and lots of muslin cloths
Wipes
Phone charger

Seconding the recommendation for pull up pants over maternity pads. I used to think Americans were ridiculous for all using them but I've ruined a load of pants because the pads moved.

Do buy some massive pants in case you have a/are planning a c-section.

Phone charger with LONG cable as it can be a distance to the plug.

Still lucozade for labour, a cup with a straw and lid so you don't have to move position much to drink.

Snacks for after labour, I was starving once on the post natal ward and struggled with waiting for hospital food.

If you're particular about pillows take your own from home for if you have to stay after birth.

Flip flops for the shower
