With all the negative stuff about maternity services can I just share this positive with you??
I'm currently 33wks pg with dc2 and had a c-section with dd1. I got offered the chance to talk about my previous birth experience to help me prepare for this next one. I was a bit sceptical but went yesterday and was so glad I did it. MW took me through all my notes almost word by word and explained why things progressed as they did - some of which I don't remember at all. Showed me exactly when decisions were made, why and who made them. Turns out I had a crash c-section (previously thought it was just an emergency) - which meant that within 10 MINS of them deciding dd was in too much distress all relevant drs, mws etc appeared, I was prepped for op, taken to theatre and dd was born. I think thats amazing!
Now I know that a lot of people complain about the NHS and have bad experiences but I feel that that we should be positive when we can so well done East Surrey Hospital for giving me excellent care 2 years ago and for helping me to understand things now to get ready for new one. And can I encourage anyone who feels they had a traumatic birth to ask their hospital if they offer a similar service. It really helps!!

what a great post! I was really happy with by birth experience the last time so I wrote to the head of midwifery at the hospital to tell her so. I work in the NHS - non maternity though - and I know how rarely people report back on positives - you get to hear the complaints but not the good stuff so much - so if you have a good birth - write and tell them so
