Contractions 10mins apart since Tuesday morning - help!

Need some advice. Started contractions on Tuesday at around 3:30am, and they settled to 10 mins apart by 6am. They are STILL going, and its been over 24 hours. I am still at home, as the hospital wants me to go in when I'm having 3-4 contractions in 10 minutes, and I'm only having 2 in 10 mins (at most). I've had the shakes, vomiting, and diarrhoea since 3am this morning. Is there something I can do to help things along? Am starting to run low on energy and motivation. Waters haven't broken, but lost mucus plug. Baby was moving earlier (think its sleeping now).

Walking around can help speed it up I think...? Don't know what else to advise, but, GOOD LUCK! It sounds like your baby will soon be with you!

eat something ! and drink something.. try to rest.....raspberry leaf tea with honey and some complex carbohydrates will be good to get your energy up. make sure you have some snacks to take to hospital

also make sure your bladder and bowels are emptied regularly to make room for baby to descend

this is the latent phase, and will get going soon

try to think positive and hold on to the thought taht your baby will be with you soon and all these ctx are helping to soften your cervix and get baby in a good position for birth

Thanks for thew advice, have been having regular snacks every 2-3 hours (porridge, cereal, wholewheat toast), and water. Keep needing the loo, so plenty of room for descent. Finding it impossible to rest, as soon as I lie down I have a contraction, and need to walk/sway through them. Will try my raspberry leaf tablets. Feels like this is going to go on forever, and no bath in new house, only shower, which doesn't seem to be doing the job.

It won't go on for ever.. i promise

try having your DH aim the shower at your back or on your tummy

keep doing what you need to do, sit on a birth ball if you can

you are doing all the right things. just go with it and you will get there

Fragolina · 09/01/2008 11:13

Thanks for the encouragement lulumama. I'm still here. No real change, but managed to have a short lie down. Seem to cope best when bouncing on ball. Need to stay positive, and keep reminding myself that this is all for a purpose!

sounds like all is going well. Trust yourself and your body. Ditto lulu's advice. Rest where you can and know that things are progressing.
