Did you require steroid injections?

Thank you

Induced exactly 37 weeks. No steroids as it’s considered full term.

CornishGem1975 · 06/04/2022 12:33

No, because it's full term and my baby was rather large. They might do if you're baby is expected to be on the smaller side maybe?

Strokethefurrywall · 06/04/2022 12:46

I had steroid injections with both my babies, as they were both on small side (don't live in UK).

DS2 threatened an appearance at 30 weeks so had steroids anyway as they were battling to keep him in.
DS1 was spontaneous at 37+5 at 6lbs 5oz and DS2 arrived at 38 weeks at 6lbs.

I would have thought they wouldn't give steroids for otherwise uncomplicated pregnancy with delivery after 37 weeks though, once considered full term?

induced at 36+5, no steroid injections

nettytree · 06/04/2022 12:48

I was induced at 36 weeks for both. Only had steroid injection for the second.

bonbons1983 · 06/04/2022 13:17

Thank you everyone.

My baby is in the 97 centile im told with a c section I will need to be given steroids if born before 39 weeks.

I find it all so confusing as if I had an induction I then shouldn't need steroids?

Hmm. I went had c-sections at 36+5 and 37+4 and didn't have steroid injections. I had sections booked and went into labour early - don't know if that made any difference, but no steroids either time!

CornishGem1975 · 07/04/2022 20:47

I'd push against that @bonbons1983 My baby was 99.6th centile and I was induced at 38 weeks. No need for steroids.

Odd, I had a csection at 38+4 with a 90something percentile baby and no steroid injections.
Lifeisforalimitedperiodonly · 07/04/2022 20:59

I was induced at 36 weeks but my DD was under 4lbs so I was given steroid injections.

TinLeaf · 07/04/2022 21:05

That’s really strange, at 39 weeks a baby is considered full term so generally wouldn’t need steroid injections

Thefaceofboe · 07/04/2022 21:10

I had a c section at 37+3 and had steroid injections because my baby had IUGR (Measuring 4lb) but I can’t see why you would if your baby would need them.

Steroid injections are usually offered for Caesarean sections
