Heavy bleeding 12 weeks after birth

Hi there, first time posting but long time lurker!

I had my baby on 30 December and had the lochia for about 6 weeks. I then had a few days of very light bleeding a couple of weeks ago, which I assumed was my body’s attempt at a period. After that I decided to go back on my mini pill (Progesterin only Desogestrel). This Friday just gone, about 10 or so days into the pack, I started bleeding fresh red blood. It’s progressively worsened to the point that yesterday I could barely stand because I was flooding blood so much, having to constantly change pad, horrendous. Ended up taking myself down to A&E because I was so scared. I had my haemoglobin and blood clotting factors checked, which they said were normal, and they gave me Tranexamic acid to help slow the bleeding (which hasn’t helped at all)!!!
I’m still in a right old state. My doctor seems to think that it’s just a very heavy first period since childbirth despite being on the mini pill (very heavy is an understatement), but I don’t know what else to do. I’ve emailed a gynaecologist I know but she seems to be away and I’ve left a message with my old midwife but no response. I just want to know if anyone has had anything similar and if there’s light at the end of the tunnel? I’ve had heavy, irregular periods in the past which I initially went on the combined pill for which worked quite well, so I don’t know whether to change from mini pill to that or not? Or whether I should just try and ride it out? I’ve also had scans in the past where 2 doctors told me I had PCOS and then 2 other doctors tell me I don’t, though I have all the symptoms for it.

Thanks for reading my waffle. Just looking for a bit of reassurance. Don’t know if it also makes any difference that I’m going through a hugely stressful time at the moment with my mum undergoing investigations for possible colon cancer.

How much are you doing, physically?
Does it ease off then get heavier again.
I had a similar issue and the midwife told me I was doing too much.
She said where your placenta comes away is like a big internal wound and you need to rest to let it heal, and that because women are used to bleeding we just get on with it when we shouldn't.

Hardly doing anything physically now. I was up until yesterday but now I’m buggered. It hasn’t eased off at all.

Are you still bleeding as heavily? When you say buggered, just fatigued? Or are you short of breath, pulse racing, dizzy on standing. Do you have anyone with you? I’d be thinking about getting seen again if the latter symptoms.

No I don’t feel dizzy on standing, out of breath or pulse racing. Quite tired though but not been sleeping, have a 3 month old baby.

Not much help, but might be something.

I walked every day after birth due to being told that walking will get blood moving and heal my episiotomy faster. My bleeding stopped after 10 days. When my period came back it was sort of like it was before just shorter. Use to bleed for 6-7 days. Now it's 3 and I'm off.

My sister however, had her baby, was bleeding for 6 weeks, she was told to rest, not sure if it made the bleeding longer or whatnot, I'm not a doctor though, went back on the pill a couple of months later, and was bleeding heavily for 3 weeks when first period was due. Had multiple tests, ended up coming of the pill and using condoms for contraception instead and has quite normal periods now. No idea what it was, but coincidence that when she went on the pill it stated when she came off it stoped.

i started the Desogestrel pill 3 weeks ago about 1 week into the pill I started bleeding just lightly at first but now 2 weeks in it’s getting heavier mainly when I stand up I can feel alot of blood coming out! I am 9 weeks postpartum.
Did anyone stop taking this pill due to the bleeding? If so when did bleeding stop?
