High BP? Not yet pre-eclampsia

Hi,
Wondered if anyone could offer me any words of reassurance if they have been in a similar situation to me.
On Friday I woke up and was 31 weeks pregnant but had noticed my head was swollen. My feet had been swollen for the last few weeks but no cause for concern.
I contacted my MW who advised me to go in to be checked. When I arrived my BP was 177/140. I was immediately surrounded by doctors and midwives asking me lots of questions about any symptoms. I had none except a swollen head.

They gave me some labetalol which seemed to reduced my PB. I had no traces of protein in my urine and my bloods came back ok. We were discharged, but before we were they took more bloods for further testing.

A few hours after I arrived home we had a call from the hospital who told me that the blood tests had come back that I was severe high risk of developing pre-eclampsia within the next 7 days and I needed to return to hospital the next day.

Saturday comes around, we attend the hospital and despite being put on medication the day before my BP was still very unstable. They kept me in until they managed to stabilise my BP. I’m currently now on 400mg labetalol 4 times a day & im also on 20mg Nifedipine 2 times a day.

While in hospital they gave me a steroid injection to develop babies lungs in case he had to be delivered early.

I had a scan and everything looked ok. I have regular monitoring with my MW and have to check my BP at home twice a day.

The consultant in the hospital said the aim was to get me to 37 weeks however she anticipates around the 34 week mark.

I still am yet to have pre-eclampsia and they are anticipating that this is what is coming.

I just wanted to know if anyone had any similar situation to me and how long they managed to hold off with the pre-eclampsia and early delivery.

Not quite the same but I was admitted with pre eclampsia at 36 weeks and on regular medication to keep my bp down. Every day there was a discussion about the risk of PE v the risk of early (earlyish) delivery/ availability of nicu beds. DTs were delivered at 36+6.

I think it will be a waiting game and things may change from one day to the next. As frustrating as it is, each extra day is good. It sounds like they and you are doing everything possible to keep baby in as long as poss.

I was nearly delivered at 31 weeks but with management of BP and regular MW appointments managed till 35 weeks.
I had been in and out of hospital a few times with high readings.
My BP went to 227/125 and I had an emergency C section.
I had no symptoms pf pre-eclampsia except for high blood pressure and swollen ankles and I felt well.
I was kept in a week after as my BP was not stabilising.
Just try and keep calm with lots of rest.
