They've cancelled my section last minute!

Just feeling the need for a rant.

39+5 - scheduled section for tomorrow and they've cancelled it until Thursday.

Cue having to rearrange all childcare and I've still got to go into the hospital tomorrow to have pre op bloods and a covid test done again as my previous ones have now expired
😩

Anyone else had this happen?

This happened to me too. They tried to push it back by a week by leaving a message on my voicemail on the Friday at 5 pm when my section was supposed to be Monday morning. Nobody answered when I called back.

I called my midwife and cried down the phone to her. (I was in excruciating pain with back problems). She sorted it.

Yep, twice. Mine needed neonatal care so it was scheduled around incubator availability but other babies kept arriving that needed the incubator so I got bumped.

namechangeforthisone22 · 15/03/2022 19:37

Mine was cancelled at 37 weeks as my baby had turned from breech to head down. I hadn't done any childbirth classes etc. Ended up with emergency section after almost 3 days in labour Confused

AnnoyedAndPregnant · 15/03/2022 19:44

Apparently there's not enough surgeons and me and one other person have been seen as the bottom of the list 😩
Midwife on the phone said is that ok? Well no not really but it doesn't sound like I've got a choice in the matter.
Just stressing now that she'll come of her own accord as I'm full term.

Aw sorry. This happened to me and it sucks!
Hopefully you will be top of the queue on Thrusday. When mine was pushed back a day I was in surgery by 12pm, only had to wait for emergencies.

AnnoyedAndPregnant · 15/03/2022 19:47

@TheresALight I don't think I am top of the list tbh was supposed to be in the morning tomorrow and I've been moved to the afternoon slot Thursday. So frustrating.

TheresALight · 15/03/2022 20:28

Argh, that's annoying! Hopefully they will stick to the slot. My hospital would only give a date not a time, so whichever day you were booked in for you'd have to fast overnight, be in hospital for 8 and wait for the operating room to be free!

Sadly people are going down with covid still, if they’ve unexpectedly got no surgeons it’s likely that. So not sure what else could be done. I get it’s disappointing. At least they’ve got you in the following day.

herecomesthehotsteppa · 15/03/2022 21:26

Oh bless you. I didn't even realise they would do this but I suppose it makes sense in Covid times, etc.
Well, looking at the positive - it's great for your baby to be able to celebrate their bday on St Patrick's day when they get older Grin
