NHS rules on birthing partners + visitors

Due to give birth in May, does anyone know what the rules are in terms of birthing partners (can I have partner and mum?). Are visitors allowed on the postnatal ward?

It depends on the hospital trust.

Where I work it’s one birth partner only. No visitors on postnatal ward apart from partner and even that’s only limited hours

Depends on the hospital. Mine (also due in May!) is currently that your birth partner is your only visitor, which is also how it was for me when I had DD in a different hospital in Aug 2020. But you need to check with them - it should be on their website.

We are now allowed 2 birth partners but only 1 visitor

Yes different rules depending on the trust. Here it still seems to be one birth partner only and they’re the only visitor allowed too.

It varies, you will need to check with your Hospital. Rules are changing all the time though so it may be different by May.

I'm due to give birth in July and at my hospital right now it's only one person allowed in with you and only when you're in active labour (so if you go in to be induced they need to leave until you're dilated enough to be moved to the labour ward). You're allowed one visitor after but this has to be the same visitor and only during hospital visiting times, you can't for example swap between your Mum and your Partner, it needs to be one or the other the full time

I think it varies by area but i gave birth on Wednesday last week. I was allowed two people there during the birth (i only had my husband). We had to stay in overnight but my husband was allowed to stay with me on the postnatel ward (we had a single room anyway) but we wasnt allowed any visitors.
