Childbirth with age gaps

I have 2 dc, 10&7 and expecting 3rd. Just wondering if the gap in age makes a difference in childbirth? Would love to know other women's experience. Midwife assured me should be fine as my body has done it before without issues.

I had 19 years between my 1st and 2nd. I had a PPH but that could have happened even with a much smaller gap. Body knew what to do which was get the baby out.

13 years between 2 of mine. No issues at all. He was born extremely fast and I only had a tiny tear with 3 stitches.

Of my friends who have been in this situation, they’ve all found the pregnancy itself more tiring, but didn’t notice a big difference in childbirth. Congrats! :-)

10 years between my 2! Second pregnancy was much harder but the birth was very straightforward. No tearing at all. First baby was back to back

Thank you! ❤️ pregnancy last few weeks have been exhausting so I hope you're also right about the birth 😊

My mum had my younger sister 20 years after having me. She was induced with my older sister and it went straightforward, fairly quick, vaginal birth. With me she never needed to be induced, I came out extremely quick, again vaginal birth with no issues. 20 years after when she had my sister, she was induced but after being in labour for 2 days she eventually needed an emergency c-section. She was in her early 40's by this point. The same could have happened if she had 3 in a row though, you never know how it will go but I don't think having an age gap will make a difference in itself

I actually had a 14 year gap between my two! Actually both births were almost identical, long labour, stitches, just gas and air with both and then fairly quick recovery afterwards. Best of luck OP x

Asked my consultant this last week and she said: yes, it seems the body sometimes "forgets" that it's given birth before but we were talking about a much bigger age gap.

15 years between 2 of mine. Second was incredibly straightforward compared to the first.
