Hi! Just wondering if there are any women who have been successful with expressing/pumping breast milk to induce labour? I am 38 weeks and ready for this baby out now as you can imagine!

Thank you!x

Placemarking. I read that you shouldn’t use a pump.. but then already read you can use a pump from term (37 weeks)? I’ve been offered sweeps from 38 weeks which I’ll be on Saturday but my god I need this baby out. I am exhausted!

Pumping is not recommended until your milk has come in due to the risk of damaging your milk ducts.

Speak to your midwife about a colostrum collecting kit for you to use before baby is born 😊

First time mum, I started leaking at 34 weeks. So o started actively collecting it at 36 weeks, wound up with about 70ml in total. I went into labour spontaneously on Sunday at 40+4. No idea if expressing helped or not! But, after an emergency c section and my little girl in NICU, I’m delighted I had that 70ml for the midwives ti give her.

My midwife recommended trying to express a little a couple of weeks before my due date which I did and it just so happens my LO was 9 days early. Not sure if there is a correlation there...
