Caesarean scar

I had a caesarean 18 months ago (after a normal birth 3years ago)and am 28 weeks pregnant. I have always had sensitivity around the scar, but am finding all clothing 'sits' in the scar and it is getting really sore and red, and is the most vile feeling. Knickers are a real problem - is there anything out there to prevent aggravating the scar ?

Can you wear bigger knickers that sit over your bump or wear some soft wadding tucked over the top of your smaller knickers ( I did this when recovering from 2nd CS - not sure how it would be when still PG)?

I always had to go for over- or on-the-bump maternity clothes as under-the-bump style clothes irritated my scar. A second vote for for big knickers too briefs were a definite no-no from about 12wks for me....

I had a weeping scar after my recent second c/s & the m/w recommended using a pantie liner horizontally over my scar & it did help - might help you too if it's sore, to keep it dry & help it heal a bit?

Oh the glamour ! Still wearing normal thongs is probably the culprit. Thought I might try one of those 'bump band' thingies...

Or just go commando underneath - who would suspect it from a heavily pregnant lady? And it'll give the mw a giggle when you turn up in labour!

mine is sensitive too - had 2 c/s - i always wore over the bump trousers of mens joggers in a xxl at the end - were like jammies but I could go out in them

After 2nd cs as given some dry dressings as it felt like even air was rubbing it and making it sore - were very similar to the old style pillow like sanitary towels

I had a section 2 years ago and found that Bio Oil really helped with sensitivity of the scar. So much so that I went on to have a VBAC with no probs or tenderness with the scar at all. HTH and good luck withthe new baby!
