Unexpected Breech waterbirth - fabulous

Saw the most wonderful delivery the other day. Undiagnosed breech delivery in the pool. Bit of a panic when a bum was seen to come first in the water, but mum just stood up, water drained and baby delivered itself really. Pity that the current trend to avoid vaginal breech birth is clouded by the medical mismanagement of breeches. Doctors tend to 'deliver' breeches in theatre with legs up in stirrups. This was lovely to watch because the baby delivered without anyone touching it except to catch it at the end really. I should say her

I love hearing about this kind of thing Mears and it must make all the hassles of working in the NHS worthwhile! Congratulations to all concerned.

thats great Mears. Ds2 was in the breech position for a while and I had explained to my midwife that I was still determined to go for a vaginal delivery. They were really supportive - and then he turned anyway! If this had been diagnosed before hand would your hospital have tried to get her to have a CS?

Absolutely. So glad she managed herself because she was only 16yrs old. Imagine having a C/S at that age.
