Hard lump above c-section incision

Posted on postnatal board, but thought I’d try here too…
I had my second emergency c-section 11 days ago. The new incision is slightly above the old one. The other day I stupidly lifted my 3 year old, and since then I’ve noticed a long hard, tender area above the new incision, that runs the whole length. I’m not sure if this is something that you can sometimes expect from the incision (scar tissue?) or if in fact lifting my DC has caused some damage. Has anyone experienced a similar hard area?

I was told they use a little bead to tie the internal stitches - I had one too. Can't feel it now a year later so it might dissolve. Not sure

@Fredsgirl19 thanks for your reply. This is quite thick, like a sausage

I have that. It’s permanent. No idea what it is, I assume scar tissue.

Emeraldgreen1 · 14/02/2022 08:00

@MaggieMooh I hope mine isn’t permanent Confused

Yes, I have that (currently 5 weeks post c section but have had it since I was about 10 days post section). I have no idea whether it’ll go away or not but I assume it’s swelling/scar tissue.

Emeraldgreen1 · 14/02/2022 10:52

@Chasingaftermidnight ok, so it sounds normal and hopefully something I’ve caused myself. Fingers crossed it goes down 🤞

@Emeraldgreen1

I was just looking at mine in the shower and although it’s still there, it’s much less obvious and softer than it was a few weeks ago and it’s not really tender anymore. So hopefully it’ll improve for you! Smile

Not sure it’s the same but I got palmed off by nurses with my c section issues. 10 months on in now under a gynaecologist and waiting to scan today to see what the lump and other issues are :( so if worried I would ask to be referred back as I was hoping my issue would resolve but it’s looking like it is something that won’t by itsel :( sorry to be negative but wish I would have gone back snd got it sorted at the beginning rather than now x

Emeraldgreen1 · 15/02/2022 13:34

@Lovemylittlebear if no improvement by 6 week check I will mention it

@Emeraldgreen1 I'm 3.weeks postpartum and had c sec. I also notice that but unfortunately it turned out to be an infection but to be honest I had other symptoms like a fever, was siverish, couldn't eat, sweat at night. Anyway I was admitted and was given antibiotics. Doc said the hard parts are the tissues.forming together and it's part of the healing process. As long as the scar does smell and you don't have above symptoms it should be fine.

Emeraldgreen1 · 17/02/2022 05:31

@IloveGod2 thank you, that’s reassuring. I don’t have any of the symptoms that you have, luckily
