Is this normal or early labour?!

Hi everyone, Ftm here I'm 36 weeks exactly tomorrow!

For the last week I've been having lots of BH, period cramps, lower backache and diarrhoea.

Since this morning I have had period pains on and off and keep feeling Really wet. Everytime I go to the toilet and wipes there is SO much clear discharge, I'm having to wipe 3 or 4 times to dry it all up! Is this normal?! I'm thinking it is my mucus plug but thought I had lost this last week when I had a big yellow snotty blob, but this currently is clear, slimy and thick and lots of it, I feel quite sick also but don't know if that is nerves, I went for a growth scan last week due to her measuring big on fundal height and they said she was VERY low and weighed 5lb 5oz if that makes any difference to anything.

Is all this normal or does it sound like early labour? Thankyou xx

Hi Op, I would call the maternity unit, sounds like your waters are leaking, and could be early labour pains. If they are leaking then they should assess you.

Fallagain · 29/01/2022 20:01

You definitely need to go and be assessed just to make sure.

It sounds like early labour and waters leaking to me.

Ashchall95 · 29/01/2022 20:06

Would my waters leaking be so slimy and thicker? Is the water babies in not just like actual water from a tap like really thin and not sticky, Sorry I'm new to all this x

No it's thick and slimy, not thin

Dawninglory · 29/01/2022 20:12

But a slow leaking could appear thinner. Usually the waters go at once but not for some. A family member was slowly loosing water for 4days before she told us (her 1st) and we got her to hospital, baby born the next day. Better to phone maternity unit, then not imo

This is how labour started for me with my second baby- my mucus plug started oozing out, not as a blob, but as thick, slimy, watery discharge. I then started having contractions immediately.

Could be that y un our waters have gone and are perhaps mixing with your discharge. Your waters are mostly baby’s urine so are quite liquid though.
You should go in tonight in case it is your waters because you need to be monitored for infection. As you are 35 w it’s also good to have the option of steroids for baby’s lungs.

lovescaca · 29/01/2022 20:19

I think u may be leaking too op. My waters was very watery. Call to be sure. Especially with the cramps etc x

Toomuchleopard · 29/01/2022 20:21

The thick slimy stuff sounds like the mucus plug. It’s often described as blood streaked but mine was clear.

Ashchall95 · 30/01/2022 12:30

Thanks everyone! My waters broke fully last night I'm in hospital waiting to be induced!!

Best of luck OP

FelicityBob · 30/01/2022 13:45

Good luck.
Doesn’t sound like what you had was your waters, I had exactly the same thing the day before I went into labour.
Hope all goes well for you
