Pecka needs to keep her pecka up - another survey! Anyone had 42 week pregnancies then shorter the next time?

I am 40+1 today and know that I have AGES yet to go into labour but Im starting to have doubting thoughts creeping in about my body and it's reluctance to go into labour!

This is baby number three and I was induced at 41+3 and then 42+1 with the other two.

They were both persistantly posterior.

This one is ROA at the moment and has been for sometime.

Her head has been bobbing in and out of my pelvis (4/5, 3/5, 2/5 and now at the brim)

I'm a doula for gods sake and part of my role is to help women have faith in their bodies etc etc but for myself I find it more difficult.

I dont mind being late I would just love to avoid induction if it gets well beyond 42 weeks.

Would like to hear anecdotal stories about being late with one baby but not with another!!

I went 42 weeks with ds1, 41 weeks with dd - shorter, agreed? BUT 41 + 3 with ds2. I cook the boys the longest it seems .

have you heard about another doula called has very long pregnancies? i think she got to 44weeks or close beofre she went into labour with her dd's.

Yes, I know of that doula I think. She has recently given birth again, earlier than expected!!

41+ would do me just fine

DD1 arrived on the EDD

DS1 was 11 days late

DS2 was 3 days early

DS3 was 8 days late

(DD2 was breech and elective CS so 6 days early )

I think what my concern is, not how late she comes but avoiding the induction.

I really wouldnt mind anything up to 42 weeks, after that, although I would resist induction and go for monitoring I would really rather have her soon!

I suppose I just cant quite imagine myself going into labour, it feels odd awaiting the arrival of your third child, as a doula too and not ever knowing what going into labour naturally is like!!

DS was born on due date (I was whinging from 37 weeks with him though because I felt I was owed him out earlier )

Ds was 11 days overdue, then dd was a week early - I was so convinced I was going to go over again I told my partner it was okay to go to the pub that night after work, then had to drive myself to hospital I know what you mean though - I went into labour with ds at midday on the day i was due to report to hospital that evening for induction. The day before they'd had me in for monitoring and I wound myself up so much about not wanting to be induced that my son was also getting stressed and flapping about all over the place with occasional rests - the doctor monitoring me thought this was his heart rate dropping and wanted to do an immediate section, but luckily the paediatrician on duty saw what was up and just sent me home to relax.

Flame! 44! That is fab, hats off to you for having the patience and faith to hold out that long.

Patience had sod all to do with it!

I knew the one and only time I had sex.

They knew the scans and measurements the "average" child should be.

DD is far from average

She came out a month ahead development (holding head, very alert from day one... I only realised when I had a "normal" baby next time round), peeling from head to foot. Only my midwife stood firm on the dates having seen her - every other doctor and midwife was convinced she was well overdue.

I feel fine today, not miserable at all.

I would actually be quite annoyed to go into labour today as I had a crap nights sleep last night and Im full of cold. I really need to catch up tonight.

Have nested again today, putting house back together after christmas so that is making me feel more calm too!

Next tuesday would do me fine please

I've just had a lovely bath with Ina May and the birth stories I'm in no rush - enjoying baby being inside and savouring these last few days as a family of 4!

We had a big family hug before watching home alone and DS said I wish the baby would come out so she could join our big happy family - felt like something out of the Waltons I did!!!!!!!!!

Watch this space though, I'll be on here hormonally ranting about them tomorrow

Sending labour vibes your way! I never got to 42wks but my history is 40+3, 41+4 (induced), 41 (induced) and 39+6. It felt like dd2 was premature, being one day earlier than EDD!!
