Hi, I’m 36 weeks an increasingly nervous about delivery as I’m such a wimp with pain. I’m booked in for an epidural, what’s everyone’s experiences with it? Do you feel any pain at all? Epidural stories please Smile

@Tolo210 Baby was back to back, yes, and the lower back pain was immense. Eased a little by partner applying pressure (much to his dismay after 3 hours!). Did manage to turn baby by using a sausage shaped yoga ball and doing leg movements for over an hour. The epidural was great but unfortunately just didn't /couldn't remove all the pain. On the plus side, I was able to push and didn't feel any pain from the "ring of fire" etc, just the back ache. Definitely recommend an epidural. I've had them for both births and they've been a necessity both times. Good luck.
@LavenderBlue95 so if they fail they don’t attempt it again? Unless of course you go for a section, I’m guessing they don’t just cut you open after a failed epidural Grin
I had to go into theatre before they had chance to anyway! They would try again thought if the patient wanted them to Smile
@Florabritannica I wonder how many anaesthetists get proposals/undying devotion on the labour ward? (Mine was Scottish, big, knew his single malt. Still think about him sometimes 4 years on 🤣)
Mine was a Russian lady, I probably would’ve proposed to her if I could speak.

She whispered in my ear after DD was delivered that she had ‘popped a suppository in there’ Grin
