Hello!
I'm being induced tonight (39 weeks) and I'm a first time mum. Just wondering if anyone had any advice on what to bring?

Feeling nervous!

Plenty to keep you occupied, it can take a while! Also I'd recommend earphones/earbuds to allow you to get some sleep, I found that the only way.

Things to do - books, films, whatever, just to keep you occupied. And headphones/earplugs! You might be on the ward for a while and it’s noisy all night long with comings and goings. And snacks.

Best of luck, both mine were induced and it was fine.

Both of mine were induced and both inductions went well And were relatively short for inductions. (12 hrs and 90mins!)

Eat before you go, once they start The induction you cannot eat.

Keep moving as much as you can.

To bring -
Water bottle,
lip balm,
Cozy socks (I had such cold feet)
Magazines, book, kindle, phone etc
Hair bands

A midwife gave me a jug when I first used the toilet after dc1. I thought everyone got one - but I don’t know anyone else that did Grin not that I’ve asked many women! I’d had an episiotomy so it was really soothing when used with tepid water.

Best thing i had was my pillow from home!! Hospital pillows are dire, youll get more comfort from your own one!

Pick and mix is always good.
A water bottle as the plastic cups only hold a mouthfull.
Slippers.
Cool clothing the wards are hotter than the firey pits of hell!!!
Extra long phone charger as the plugs are behind the bed.

I ate after my induction. Why would that be problem? All you really need is a way to keep busy and its OK to cry if you are feeling a bit frustrated about how long it takes

Great point on the jug, I had one of these wash bottles www.boots.com/boots-maternity-perineal-spray-bottle-10288929 and it was amazing. Saved me from getting an infection when my stitches opened.

My induction has been really unpleasant! Have had three rounds of the gel and they can't break my waters so back home. Feels like I'm back at square one again Sad

Oh hopefully things will kick off soon for you. Are you drinking lots of Raspberry Leaf Tea?

Charliesgotachocolatefactory · 16/01/2022 19:06

Sorry to hear nothing is doing yet. I can’t think of anything else to say that isn’t a cliche that would want to make you punch me in the face at this point 🤣 so I’ll wish you a good night’s sleep and hopefully things will start happening soon.

Charliesgotachocolatefactory · 16/01/2022 19:08

“..that would make you want to punch me…”

I should really preview my posts!

Chanel05 · 17/01/2022 15:07

Sorry it's not going as you'd hoped! Have you considered an elective section?

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 17/01/2022 15:13

Aw, I'm sorry it's not happening.
Mine was a while, induced on a Wednesday morning with pessaries etc, she didn't put in an appearance until Saturday morning.Hmm
Best of luck and keep us posted!
