Vaginal Birth after Csection

Hi there, just wanting to hear peoples experiences of a VBAC.

I'm in the first trimester with baby no.2 and I had my LB 10 months ago. I was taken into hospital to be induced at 41weeks +3 but due to complications he was delivered by emergency c section a few days later.

With this baby I'm in two minds about trying for a vaginal delivery again or just booking a Csection... positive or negative stories are welcome!

There is a group on Facebook that is fantastic for evidence based information if you’re interested in a vbac, highly recommend joining

I had a VBAC but I had already had a previous vaginal delivery so I knew it was possible iyswim. It was a really positive experience.

I had a VBAC and it was the best thing I have ever done 💛

I had a VBAC. Sort of wish I’d not buggered my vagina as well as my stomach.

I think I’d be tempted with an elective if I could do it again.

I had a VBAC (first child EMCS after induction). 2nd labour also induced as I was 40 years old and had gone over term (sweeps and Foley failed - so back to bastarding syntocin again). My cervix is a stubborn brute - I was tempted to get the midwife and DH chanting "open sesame" just if see if that would work- but it finally gave up and got with the program. It was a long night and I think I was on my knees sobbing at one pont having only got to 2cm after about 5 bloody hours of contractions. But once the baby had a good clear gap to run at we were flying and the last bit was comparatively a doddle. And I felt invincible after, though possibly just high as a kite after a night of sleep deprivation and party drugs (gas+air and remifentanil).

If I had ended with EMCS again I think I would have thought huh, what a waste of another load of hours of pain and exhaustion but oh well it was worth a go .

The midwives were fab and monitored the baby like hawks so it felt very safe.

My nethers ended up ok. I needed stitched a bit but the midwife who did it had such silky skills she'd probably win the Great British Sewing Bee and all is well.

I attempted a VBAC and the previous scar started to open so ended up with an emergency section. Wish i hadn't bothered trying VBAC and pleased i had two sections now.

It was a few years ago now but my second son was in such a hurry to be born there was no time for a C section ! First and third sons both sections though
