Hey gang!

What would you have on your birthing playlist?

Looking for upbeat inspiration....no whale music! Grin

Ambient stuff. Be prepared for it to give you flashbacks for evermore, so pick something that isn't so very special to you. My first labour was long, I spoiled many favourite artists that I can't now listen to!

My second labour was fast, I couldn't have given a shit whether music was playing or not.

I didn’t bother with either of mine. Fairly quick labours with no time to think about anything other than giving birth.

I haven’t got a ‘playlist’ for any scenario though, perhaps I’m out of date.

DropYourSword · 22/12/2021 13:12

I’d just recommended music you normally listen to.
Having music on REALLY helped me in labour. Especially 2nd stage when pushing - it helped me find that extra little bit I needed to!

Grin Lol! I'm a survivor too maybe?! Wouldn't mind a laugh tbh!

It's tricky not knowing if the stuff you normally listen to will be tainted forever!

It my first and probably quite drawn out. And although I'll be in the birthing unit alone (with birth partner and midwife) I don't want the only noise to to be me screaming or making farm yard noises!!

I'd also go for stuff you'd normally listen to. In my case I went for songs I at least know some of the words to. The idea being I could sing along to as a potential distraction from pain/something to focus on.

In the end it didn't matter in the slightest. I could have had a live orchestra in the room with me and I wouldn't have noticed their presence, let alone listen to them. Diamorphine is a hell of a drug. Grin

I still have that playlist. Listen to it regularly as a matter of fact.
