Is this early labour?

Hi. I'm 38 weeks exactly today and since about yesterday afternoon I've had a period like ache in my pelvis. Like when you're about to come on and it's just a dull ache.

Could this be a very early labour sign? Or is it just dilation perhaps?

I feel like I'm in the two week wait again, over thinking things!!!

I don't know if it's early Labour.
I had lots of aches for a couple of weeks where the body is just stretching and getting ready.

Good luck though!! Could be a Christmas baby 🥰 x

Probably Braxton Hicks. I got lots of them in the month leading up to the birth. Felt like period pains. It's good. It's your body preparing for birth. I was 1cm by the time the midwife came to check for first baby 1. Practice breathing through them using a slow breath. The way you stay labor is has you ended it IMO.

*is the way you end it

It could be, how are you now @Dextersmumhasgotitgoingon?

Poppins2016 · 21/12/2021 06:26

It could be. But it could also be baby's head engaging lower or your body adjusting to your growing baby.

Thanks everyone! @PanicBuyingSprouts still going but not much progress which I guess means engagement or BH as you guys have suggested. I presume if it were early labour I would have seen an increase in pain or intensity and it's just sort of staying the same. These last two weeks are going to be so exciting/ tense!

Sounds like your body is getting ready but it could still be weeks away.

The body does a lot of this in the last few weeks before labour. That said, you could go another four weeks or so, as it doesn't really indicate when labour is coming, more that just is coming.

This is very true... I was convinced my second baby would be early due to all the pelvic aches and pains I was getting... but he was born at 41 + 5!

Hey OP,
Any news on the baby ? Xx

@user87653848 nothing Sad just more of the same all week! These little ones don't half make us wait. Getting very fed up now but trying to enjoy the last few days of pregnancy.

The last part seems forever!!
Good luck for when the time comes xx
