Christmas babies

Hello everyone,

Anyone due over the Christmas period and feeling the limbo that comes with not being able to make any festive plans?

I'm due this Friday 21, and my first, DS, was ten days late, so I'm expecting this one to be late too, but am getting a lot of BHicks so we shall see.

Have been uncharacteristically organised this Christmas and have stocking ready for DS, just so that he doesn't have to deal with intruder-baby AND no presents!

Mind you haven't got presents for most of rest of family, oops. But I suppose we have a good excuse.

My DS was due 21st Dec last year. I had all my presents bought, wrapped and given out by October!! He was born by CS on the 13th.

I'm due with my first on 29th Dec, but have been having early symptoms for over a week. MW thinks I'll deliver within a few days. Could be Christmas!
Thankfully I don't live in UK, so most of the Xmas madness passes me by........ so I'm just relaxing at home and don't really mind when the baby comes to be honest.

My DS wasn't due till early Jan 07, but decided to turn up on Christmas Day last year... Just about the best xmas present you can possibly imagine, and I still got round to my sister's in time for a (late) christmas lunch!

Was pretty glad all the presents, stockings etc were organised so dd didn't mind that mummy & daddy were missing for half the day!

Awe nice to have Christmas baby postings. Apparently it used to be a tradition in British hospitals that the midwives would knit a Christmas outfit for the first baby born on Christmas Day. Not that MWs would have time for that nowadays!

Good for you getting to Christmas lunch on the day, pretty impressive.

It does make Christmas more special than I ever remember, having this extra excitement.

Lilimama sounds like we could both be Christmas Day.

my dd2 was born on xmas day i was very organised didnt get to come out on xmas day but dd1 was only little, so when i got home boxing day we did xmas then but she didnt no it not xmas day

am dreading it at bit when she old and throws one about it

but i do try and make a day before special for her

and i make it very clear to other people no jiont prezzies unless she asks for them when older

I was born on christmas day and my cot was specially decorated by the midwives with lace and ribbons. Also, as I was the first one in the region that year, I was in the papers too!

My second baby girl is due 27th but I am the other way around - would rather she is not born on Christmas day! Not because it bothers me, having my birthday then because I love it - more I just fancy having the day with my family and DD1!

Being a) in labour b) in hospital and c) on my 30th birthday does not sound that attractive to me! (I do sound awfully selfish don't I?? )

this time last year I was in labour! My little one arrived at 1am so his first birthday tomorrow!

I was totally beside myself with waiting for him to arrive, we couldn't make any plans for christmas day and I hated that! Infact christmas passed in a daze of exhaustion and emotion! This year will be different!

I'm due 23rd December and have finally got everything ready for Xmas - just waiting for the little one to make an appearance! Getting imaptient now.

I agree that it will make a lovely Xmas present if he comes on the day but think it's not fair on them when they get older. So far have two plans for Christnmas day - one for if he has been born and one for if he hasn't - if he comes on the day then all plans go out the window!

Yes I am due on sunday, which is the 23rd. So it could well be born at christmas. I have planned a home birth, so I don't have to be in hospital over christmas, even if I have just had her.

I wasn't too worried about it before, but now its getting close, I am starting to think about it being christmas day! I am hoping to have both my Mum and my husband here with me o christmas day and feel like I don't want to ruin other people's christmas. I dont mean my mum and husband, but the people who won't see them on christmas because they will be with me. I know its silly and that everybody will understand, but I guess thats hormones for you!

Gemy I had a baby on my 30th! And my next one is due Sat. So I have a feeling it will be Christmas day for maximum inconvenience!

I'm due on the 30th, but been having so many BH and false labours that I'm pretty sure he'll be putting in an early showiung. I have a MW appointment on Christmas Eve - if I ask for a stretch and sweep, do you think she'd oblige? (baby also measuring mahoosive for dates - 95th percentile ) Would she refuse on the grounds that there's a strong chance I'd go into labour on Christmas day?

i've had loads of false alarms, but still no babe despite being four days overdue. am desperate to get it over with, but dreading labour at the same time.

luckily ds had a lovely day today, and is now stocked up on presents, so hopefully that will alleviate the impact of baby arriving.
