How long before a sweep does anything, if anything at all?

Had a sweep yesterday morning at about 10.30. Had a bit of bleeding which MW said was the start of a show although not really anything else since. Cervix was high but quite soft (is that a good thing?).

So I am really just wondering how long do you leave before you know it hasn't done anything?

I'm having one this morning and was told if successful (fingers crossed) labour should start within 48 hours.

48 hours

48 hours, to the minute (or thereabouts).

It'll only work if you're pretty much ready to go anyway, iyswim. Soft cx is a good sign. Is it your first?

This is my second. Had two sweeps with DD, neither of which worked. She ended up arriving on 42+1 without being induced.

Am now 41+2 and will give till 10.30 tomorrow morning before I loose all faith that it has done nothing again

Had a sweep with DD (first child) and went into labour approx 12 hours later.

i had a sweep on monday afternoon and dd born early hours of wed morning.

when mw gave sweep i asked her to predict when baby would be born. she said thursday. later, at birth she told me she really thought it would be earlier but didn't want to get my hopes up! she said she was secretly sure she would be delivering my baby before she went off duty on wed teatime.

waiting, at last stages, can be so difficult. huge sympathies. but baby will come...
