Experience with induction due to polyhydramnious (Chelsea & Westminster)

Hi lovely parents and parents to be!

I couldn’t find a thread so apologies if I missed one. I’m 38+1 today and went for Scans at 34, 36, and 38 weeks for unrelated reasons. In the past 3 scans they measured an increase in amniotic fluid by chance (and measured an increase from: 7.8, to 9.1cm) and classified me as polyhydramnious - tested again for diabetes last week but don’t seem to have it.

The doctor advised an induction before 40 weeks, but was not told how it’s done, risks, benefits etc.. tried to call the MW over the past 2 days but couldn’t get hold of them :(

I’ve a sweep booked in for 39+2.. but wondering if I should bring it forward and possibly also try reflexology/ acupuncture to trigger at least some progress? (Baby’s head is 3/5 engaged).

So here are my questions:
What were your experiences with induction and how was it done (balloon, gel, drip?)

And was anyone polyhydramnious - what where your experiences and birth like?

Obviously currently worried if all is okay with baby and a bit bummed I can’t have a natural birth (with no worries and in a pool.. I know sounds naive and a bit naff) as it sounds :(

I would ask for more tests to be done. As far as I’m aware, they measure the deepest “pocket” of amniotic fluid. How this is accurate I’ve no idea, as surely if the baby moves, then the sizes of the pockets of fluid would be changing all the time? Some trusts seem to use 8cm as the cut off and some use 10cm, so I really wouldn’t worry.

Thank you @SweetBabyCheeses99 that is a fair point! I think I got caught up with all the thoughts I didn’t think of asking for another scan.. I’ll do that.
