Internal Vaginal Stitches

Can anyone who had internal vaginal stitches tell me how long it took for them to heal? I was badly injured in my son's birth, which was a vacuum delivery. The external tears have healed but the internal ones still bother me when walking. My doctor has pronounced me "healed," but, it's been nearly twelve weeks, and it certainly doesn't feel like it!

I’d say mine I felt for a few months but not uncomfortable just aware that they were there. more so during sex… I can still feel inside where the stitches were some nearly 7 years later. ( I had forceps)

I think everyone heals differently- you say they bother you when walking ? Painful or uncomfortable?

@Snowywintersundays123 I would say uncomfortable. It feels like tugging or heaviness such that I'm always conscious of it. Tried to have sex a little over a week ago and the tear site was still too tender.

Hello,

Firstly, congratulations!

If you have any queries, contact the consultant clinic, for postpartum at the hospital. I was automatically referred, although I am aware not everyone one is, I think having a professional check me over was so reassuring and put my mind at ease. It was through maternity services but a specialist clinic.

You know your body and having a professional opinion may offer that reassurance.

Good luck with it all!

Very pully for months, like if I'd sit on the arm of a sofa, I'd feel it or crouch, but I do think ventouse really butchers your insides. I had it too and a long recovery. Honestly I'd say it took 9 months to feel ok again. But when I had a few stitches from my second baby they asked about who stitched me the first time, which makes me think it was a bad job. I know it's not what you want to hear, but they can be cut and redone.

I don't know whether I had any internal stitches or not but I had a lot of discomfort after my first that persisted for a long time. Sex was painful and if I was stood up or walking for too long I'd get a deep ache/heavy feeling in my vagina. It turned out to be granulation tissue and once that was removed I had no more problems. The removal was done in the drs office with silver nitrate and was a bit sore but not too bad. You should go see your GP about it and ask about granulation tissue as if that's what it is then it is an easy fix.

Thank you all for your replies! It's a comfort to know that although recovery may take a while it can get better.

@toughtoes I agree that the recovery from the ventouse is different and there isn't a lot of information about it. My doctor seems to think nothing of it but clearly, it is a lot tougher on your body.

@Kinsters Thanks for the info! I'll make sure to ask about granulation tissue.
