My cousin is being admitted to the hospital on Dec. 28th. She is about 6 months pregnant with twins who are in the same sac. The doctors are afraid that they could get wrapped up in each others cords and say there is a 70% chance that one of them will not make it, so she is getting admitted and at the first sign of distress they are taking her in to do a C-section. They are estimating that the babies currently weigh about 1 lb. 9 oz each and will not let her pregnancy go beyond Feb. 7.

I know that she is afraid to be living in the hospital for the next month, to leave her not quite 2 yo, and worried for the health of her babies. Please send positive vibes and stories.

Thank you everyone.

What a worrying time for all concerned.

Heres hoping that she has a peaceful and non eventful christmas.

xxxx

I hope and pray that all is well with the babies, and with her. It must be very frightening... sending lots of positive vibes and thoughts.

link to article about MOMO twins seems that close monitoring, regular ultrasound and immediate delivery if neccesary can make this a less precarious situation.

notmyrtle · 18/12/2007 13:30

I had a friend with exactly this situation (momo twins) - she had amnio reductions done, they drain off some amniotic fluid so that the babies move less & are much less likely to get entangled. She made it to 34 weeks & the babies are doing brilliantly but it was a terrifying time for all concerned.

Sending lots of vibes to your cousin, it must be so hard to leave her 2yo

Just wanted to let everyone know that over the weekend she had the babies via C-section. Both girls are doing fine and both weighed 4 lbs.

Mom, are you MKG?

Huge congrats to your cousin and you!!

mom2latinoboys · 11/02/2008 12:32

Yes I am NJ.

NatalieJane · 11/02/2008 12:46

Ohhhh I didn't know

LOL Feel like a pillock now, the reference to the NJ labour thread on that other thread last week makes sense now! LOL

Is your cousin in England?

PurplePillow · 11/02/2008 12:51

that's fantastic news congrats to your cousin

mom2latinoboys · 11/02/2008 12:52

No she's not in England she lives here on my side of the pond.

mom2latinoboys · 11/02/2008 12:53

I think now the reality has hit her that she has a 20 month old and twin newborns which I think is more scary than the month she spent in the hospital.

NatalieJane · 11/02/2008 13:01

Awwww have you seen them yet?

It'll take a bit of time but she will manage, she's got for one thing

mom2latinoboys · 11/02/2008 13:18

No she lives about 8 hours away, but I've been stock piling clothes for her so may make the trip soon.

NatalieJane · 11/02/2008 13:24

Bugger, that last bit of my last post was supposed to say, she has YOU for one thing.... but maybe not anyway!

Has she got other family near her? Lot's of hard work, but she'll still get through it, I'm sure

mom2latinoboys · 11/02/2008 13:57

Well her parents came up from South Carolina while she was in hospital. The hospital has a great program where family of patients that are in long term like she was can stay for $10 a night in a hotel about a mile away from the hospital. So they took her daughter and visited her every day. Her mil and fil are in Peru working right now. But have seen everything over the internet.

NatalieJane · 11/02/2008 18:32

Sorry managed to miss this somehow!

That is good with the hospital/hotel thing!

It must be scary having 3 so close together! But we seem to have a way of coping with what ever is thrown at us

The main thing is that they are all healthy and OK.
