Sweep at 39+3

My midwife has scheduled me for sweep at 39+3. This is my first pregnancy and don't really know what to expect. Is it painful? Will it bring on labour? Is it worth having done?

It's a little uncomfortable a sweep, I had one earlier at 38 weeks didn't do a thing for me.

There is no evidence they encourage labour and they do come with risks which is why most countries don’t do them.

I had a sweep on due date with my first, MW said I was 2cm and fully effaced, and was confident I’d go into labour in next day or so… I didn’t 😒 had another sweep at 41weeks and had DD next morning! So I’ve got mixed reviews! I hear people say they work if your ready but it seems I couldn’t of been more ready when I had first and it didn’t work but it seemed to have done something 2nd attempt! Hope yours works first time! I went for a long walk after both and bounced on my birthing ball once home.

PS I also didn’t find it too painful just uncomfortable. X
