C-section wound bleeding after 5 weeks

I’ve once again done too much and my c section wound is now bleeding slightly. 4 weeks after my c section. I was told after two weeks it was opening a little bit (no advice just told that!) and that was after over doing it 😩 I had worked hard to heal it until this weekend.

I think I made it worse earlier as was pulling my stomach up and then cleaned it with salt water. It ached after that so I think I pulled it too much.

I can’t physically get to the Drs as dp has important meetings this Week. We do have bupa that we can FaceTime.

I’m now sat in bed and plan not to move much. Is it worth seeing/FaceTiming someone now or just being careful and seeing what happens?

Is it bleeding slightly or are there signs of infection (oozing, smell, redness, etc?). If the latter is look into something fairly urgent (maternity unit at hospital?) otherwise id call 111 and see what they suggest. Best get some reassurance from someone qualified even if no further action necessary.

I'm 5 weeks PP after an EMCS too by the way so feel your pain (figuratively and literally!).

I think I made it open up. It looks better then it has done in two weeks today so I think it might have helped it heal. Apart from that bit it’s all healed completely. I can’t even tell where the cut was in some places!

It’s absolutely awful isn’t it. This will definitely be my last baby. I would never risk another c section.

How has your recovery been?

It is so hard. I had an episiotomy with my first and my stitches failed so I was all prepped for another episiotomy and all the ways I'd look after that. Didn't expect a c section stupidly. Even if I did want another baby the recovery has put me off doing it again. It's not been too bad looking back but I've been so paranoid about setbacks and infections and haemorrhages that I've been a ball of worry and misery for the last 5 weeks. I'm not mentally strong enough to do it again!

Sounds like you've recovered well - my scar is also almost invisible in places too. I've decided I have a hernia as I have a small lump above my scar but I've got my 6 week check on Thursday so I'll offload to my GP about it then.

Definitely see someone!! My dressing came off 24hrs after surgery, and there wasn't even a hint of blood or discharge after that, do yours doesn't sound right to me at all. Get it checked out.
