Anyone had two elective c sections?

Had my first elective as baby was measuring big and overdue and didn't want to be induced.

Now decided on vbac or another elective.

My elective first time was very positive.

Just wondering what others experiences were second time round was it just as straight forward etc

Thank you ❤️

I had my first ELCS 5 years ago, it was an average experience.

My second ELCS was 5 days ago and it was brilliant. Such a positive experience and knowing what to expect and the best way to advocate for myself/plan for the birth were invaluable.

So far, healing is the same as the first time. I'm fairly mobile already and know what medications work best for my body having been through it already.

Yup, pretty much! First one baby was breech. It was all very easy and straightforward, so I decided I wanted to do that again rather than chance it with trying for natural. So I did and it was - grand! Logistics a little bit harder with another child already, but Id absolutely make the same decision again!

My sister did. But she has had a lot of issues with the scar healing badly.

I did for 1 and 3 : No 2 was early so didn't make it the c-sec!

I had a planned but not elective with my first (placenta previa) and this time am having an elective in 3 weeks, so I’m interested in the responses too!

I've had 1 emcs and 3 elcs. The elcs were very positive calming experiences and apart from each one taking a few minutes longer due to scar tissue they went very smoothly as did recovery.

Yes - I had one 2 years ago and the second 2 weeks ago. Both positive experiences. I actually really enjoyed the second one - I was less nervous as knew what to expect. I'd say recovery has been straightforward and possibly a bit easier this time, although I didn't struggle with it the first time either. I was worried about being in hospital what with covid and reduced visiting hours but everyone there was absolutely brilliant and my fears were unfounded! I'm really pleased with both c sections and think for me they were absolutely the right choice. For context, I have also had a vaginal birth (my first) which went rather wrong and was advised to have an ELCS in subsequent births, although I could have had a VB again had I wanted.

Mine were elective, and one emergency. The experiences with the electives was a lot nicer and calmer than the emergency one!

I am interested to see responses too. Had traumatic ventouse delivery with first, elective section with second and having another elective in January.

I hope it'll be even better this time as I know in advance things I can do to make recovery easier. And also we hopefully won't be in lockdown so family will be able to help.

Interested to hear what people say about recovery for second time though.

Recovery time was the same with all of them. Also no scar issues and back on my feet within a few hours after spinal block.

WakeUpLockie · 05/12/2021 14:32

Watching - my first ELCS was not straightforward but my vaginal birth was not either and CS safest for me this coming April.

I had an elective 3 years ago due to placenta previa & another elective 3 weeks ago, by my choice. Both recoveries have been really good for me. I was worried the 2nd time round would be harder, especially with having a toddler, but it has been absolutely fine, if not easier.
I was up on my feet quite quickly & made sure to keep mobile & on top of painkillers. But I have resumed life as normal now & have been driving since week 2.

I've had 2 elective c sections, my second 6 months ago.
Both were incredibly special experiences and recovery was great both times.
Only slight change was I was much less nervous with the second as I knew what to expect.
