C-section scar numb?

Hi mummas,

I'm 3 months PP after an emergency C-section and I'm still numb around the scar.
If I poke the area around it I can feel it but I can't at the same time if that makes sense? As if I could scratch the skin with a nail and it would just feel like a tickle..

Is this normal? Does the feeling ever come back? Is it anything to be concerned about?

Thank you ❤️ x

It's normal. I've had two c sections last one was 15 months ago and mine is semi numb about a cm above and below all along the scar.

Also congratulations on your baby!! 💐

onetwothreeadventure · 17/11/2021 17:34

I had that! In my case it lasted for at least 6 months after my CS but is totally fine now and all the feeling has returned. I guess it was just everything healing but it was such a weird feeling!

BornInAThunderstorm · 17/11/2021 17:34

12 years on mine is still numb on the right side from the scar to about an inch above it

WheelieBinPrincess · 17/11/2021 17:35

I still have this at 9 weeks on from ELCS… weird isn’t it?

I meant to ask at my six week check but they squished it onto my baby’s eight week check/jabs and I was so preoccupied with that I forgot to remind them they were meant to be checking me too 😫

Yes, sounds totally normal. I was completely numb still after 5 months. 16 months on, still can't really feel anything above the centre of the scar, but feeling has returned to the edges. Happily, it's also now fading to a silvery colour, and is a lot less raised.

Mine was numb for ages after my 3rd section (7 years ago). Years and years. I've just checked though and realised none of it is numb anymore.

Whenigrowupiwanttobea · 17/11/2021 18:57

Yep! I had an emergency csection 9 years ago with a spinal block (quicker than an epidural and they didn't want to give me a GA.) Scar still numb.

Mumadof3 · 17/11/2021 18:59

I had my c section 18 months ago and it's still numb. Has improved slightly but tbh doesnt really bother me.

mrssunshinexxx · 18/11/2021 05:58

I had emc last June like a pp said mine was numb about a inch above scar still I just had another emc last week so imagine will be a while if ever to have complete feeling along the scar x

mrssunshinexxx · 18/11/2021 05:59

Should add after first emc my whole belly was numb / tingly for months but that hasn't happened this time

Antsgomarching · 18/11/2021 06:01

Yup numb for 18 months i think. It’s normal.

Ohhgreat · 18/11/2021 06:21

Still numb here over a decade on!

Nowmum43 · 18/11/2021 06:23

I had 2 sections, one -2 years ago and the other 10 years next week. My scar is still numb and hurts if I get a cold! It's bonkers.

Nowmum43 · 18/11/2021 06:23

That would be 12 years ago, not -2!

SpringheelJack · 18/11/2021 20:35

I have a sort of stripe of numbess along the top edge of the scar. Bit weird but never really bothered me. Not like I use it for anything!

GardenersDelight · 18/11/2021 20:39

My c section was almost 28 years ago and I still have some numb patches around the scar line
