Hi,as you can guess i'm getting a bit impatient.I honestly didn't expect to get past 36 weeks due to family history.(I am the 1st person on my mums side to get past 37weeks sucessfully)and whilst I'm so happy she's not prem.I am SICK of being pregnant.
I know I sound selfish and that she'll come when she's ready but am just so fed up.She's been fully engaged for about 3 weeks and there's just no more room for her in there.

Iv'e been getting really strong Braxton Hicks contractions for the past 2 weeks and lower back pain that comes and goes for the past 2 days so there's definatley something going on.The midwife suggested "aquiring some semen and applying it to the area" which me and my boyfriend found amusing, but sex at this size is uncomftable for us both...

lol I know there's nothing I can really do to speed things up.just needed a rant really.xxx

it'll come when its ready, i'm afraid, but you could try a bumpy car ride or a hot curry, a nice long walk.
i like the way your midwife told you about the semen

all the best for your impending labour

Ride a mountainbike slowly thru a muddy field and plan to fall on your bum a few times.
Well, I think that might be a factor in why DS1 arrived at 39 weeks, anyway

Bouncingturtle · 13/12/2007 22:07

ROFL @ Bouncy castle!

What about one of those bungee trampoline things? Just make sure that there's a net underneath to catch with

I've just bought 2 pineapples today, have eaten a curry and now DH is going to massage me with clary sage massage oil.

TBH, not convinced that these things work unless baby is ready to come out - they just probably help it along a bit! And ease the boredom of the wait!

(I'm 38+4 today!)

dingdongmerrilyonFLIER · 17/12/2007 13:23

anything happened for you yet?

Anarchymummy · 17/12/2007 15:15

No sign of her yet, she's either taking after her dad and being stubbon or just waiting till it warms up a bit.lol.
I'm now 40+2 and am strangely less anxious.I think now i'm got past my due date i'm less focused on the date.
Iv'e now progressed to raspberry leaf tea, tablets, pineapple and sex.

I went and bought a HUGE tin of pineapple rings the other day and the woman in the shop asked "when were you due?" lol had to laugh!!!

I was overdue with both mine ( a week with my first!).
glas you're less anxious, you never know, maybe its a sign your body is getting ready for labour, conserving energy etc. hope you manage to take it easy, and all the best.

Sat 29th? haven't had one, but tbh if you haven't given birth by then I think you'll be glad of it.

The only other thing I know about them is that they don't always work.

festivecircus · 17/12/2007 15:53

IIRC the pineapple needs to be fresh, not tinned. If sex is out of the question try nipple stimulation?

Am 39+2 myself and would be climbing the walls but am too fat. DP and I are planning to work our way through all the old wives' tales at the weekend but she's not even engaged yet, I'm trying to resign myself to waiting until January.

Naetha · 17/12/2007 18:43

Clary sage oil massaged to bump, nipple stimulation, fresh (not tinned or juiced) pineapple, long walks, bumpy car rides (or anything that increases pressure on the cervix) and sex (both semen and you orgasming are important, so if you don't make it all the way, make sure you finish it off yourself - apparently though semen is more effective for kick-starting labour if absorbed through the stomach......

They're all meant to work - I tried them all this weekend when I started getting contractions (except for the semen/stomach thing ) but alas my contractions went away again. At the end of the day, the baby will come when he can be bothered
