Anyone feel like this before labour?

I know there's no way of knowing but I'm at that stage of obsessing over every twinge.

The last week I've been having very mild irregular contractions, more like cramps, and a growing lower backache. Since yesterday it's been more pronounced 'period pain' like and I've got all the usual period-y symptoms - suddenly very exhausted, feel quite sick, frequent bowel movements.

Since yesterday afternoon I've had very little appetite which is unlike me in this pregnancy, I've been eating non stop for the last few months. Baby has definitely dropped and there's lots of pressure.

I'm 37+1 and this is baby number 2, number 1 came with my waters breaking totally unexpectedly at 36+4. I'm having contestant backache and tightenings but have only had a few full blown contractions and they've been very spaced out.

Wanting someone to say they had this build up and went into labour! I'm not sure I can cope with a few weeks or more of this slow build up and uncertainty, thinking every day this will be it!

I'm on no. 3, but I'm sorry to say I've been feeling like that since 37 weeks and now overdue! I really thought it was a sign labour was imminent, but apparently not.

Apparently its prodomal labour, so the body is preparing and my midwife said that some of the work will be done by the time real labour kicks in so it should be quick.. But maybe she was just trying to comfort me!

Hope it doesn't drag on for you.

With dc2 I had a few days of those symptoms, then they stopped for a week or so. Then they started again and after a day or so they suddenly turned into active labour in just an hour. So from irregular contractions and then bang - regular contractions three mins apart. No build up really.
So yes, it could be the real thing. Or it could be practise ones, like the first lot I had which didn't turn into active labour. No way to tell!
Good luck, hope it's the real thing Smile

Thanks for the replies just wanted to pop on for anyone who finds the thread with similar symptoms to say yes I was in labour and had the baby yesterday morning....!

Obviously it could go either way with the symptoms, I'm relieved she's here safe and sound, all happy and healthy so far!
