Scar after episiotomy

I had my baby 5 months ago and had episiotomy. I feel the scar till this day, it’s not really painful but I feel like it’s pulling a bit and I feel a little pain when wiping 😥 I was also stitched a little asymmetrically. Just wanted to ask if it’s normal for the scar to fill a but uncomfortable after 5 months or should I see someone about it ?

Yes it's normal. 5 years on and I can still feel mine. You can do stretching exercises to reduce the pulling and tightness though.

Sorry I meant “feel a bit” not fill a but 🤦🏼‍♀️

Mine is still uncomfortable 10 years on. Not day to day, but if I do something that twinges it. I don’t think it will ever go.

I think ask somebody if you’re worried.

I had DD two years ago and don’t feel the episiotomy scar at all anymore. However, I couldn’t walk without pain / discomfort until about 3 months after giving birth. So the healing has been a lot better than I thought it would be. Hope yours starts to feel better soon too.

I would ask someone to check it. It may be that you have some keloid scarring that could be removed if it’s causing you pain. However it’s always going to be different - I’m 18 years on from mine and I can still feel mine and occasionally it’s uncomfortable!

Def get it checked. If it's causing problems they can cut and re-stitch you. I don't have any issues at all with mine, feels the same as pre-baby.
