Second birth after first birth with PPH

Hi everyone,

I lost 2.1 litres of blood giving birth to my son in 2020. I'm now pregnant again, 21 weeks along. I'm extremely scared of giving birth and fear that the same will happen again and that I will die this time.

Do you have any experience with this?

Did you have another pph after your first one?

How was your next birth managed after pph?

Would be grateful for any advice xx

Yes, this happened to me. I lost quite a lot of blood with my first.
The hospital was absolutely brilliant second time around. They arranged for me to go on a drip straight after delivery to be on the safe side. I had a small haemorrhage second time, but nowhere near as bad/dangerous. Good luck!

My first birth, I was classed as having a PPH due to blood loss, not as much as you and some of the blood loss was due to a tear so I'm not sure if this counts, but after first birth I lost consciousness etc and had drips and then iron tablets for weeks after. Because of this, for my second, the hospital were
excellent. I had lots of extra checks immediately following birth and afterwards so I felt very looked after, and as a bonus I also had much less blood loss - with the same amount of tearing (in the same place apparently!). So second birth was not classed as a PPH.

Good luck OP, I hope it goes well Thanks
