Last labour started naturally at 39+3 Grin really wish I had a crystal ball!

Anyone else had any experience of feeling like they were cutting it fine?

I'm worried mine is still breech and I'll have a c section at 39+4 as well. I don't think they'll do it at 38+4 and they only do electives on Tuesdays!

If you go into labour naturally they'll just give you a c section then surely?

presidentgerbil · 19/10/2021 18:03

I went into labour naturally with my first at 38+3 so was quite sceptical when they booked my elective this time for 39+3. But here I am still pregnant and getting ready for my c section tomorrow (I'm completely terrified!).

I was told if I went into labour naturally to go straight in and they would do an emergency c section.

ChikiTIKI · 19/10/2021 18:18

How do some hospitals do only one day a week of planned c sections?! My hospital does up to 6 per day.

Did you tell them you think it's a bad idea given when you went in to labour last time? If so, what did they say?

ByeBumpHiBaby · 19/10/2021 19:33

@Bennetgirl I'm shocked they only do them on one day! My trust does them on 3 days, usually 3 per day I think. I hope baby stays put for you (or turns the correct way! 🤞🏻)

@presidentgerbil so glad baby stayed put! Is this your first section? I hope everything goes well for you and your nerves settle enough to enjoy it - please do come back and let me know how you get on, I'll be thinking of you tomorrow now Smile what time do you have to be there in the morning?

@ChikiTIKI I did, and was told I'd only been bumped as someone else must have needed that slot, and if I go into labour early to ring them and they'd just make sure I was fit in. I'm not overly concerned about going into labour early, it's just felt hard having a date in mind for so long and it now having changed, especially since physically I'm struggling quite a lot now, my SPD is awful 😬

@ByeBumpHiBaby I know! Apparently they'll also do a Wednesday if they're busy. They only schedule 2 electives on the Tuesday!

They all seem set on inductions and c sections after 39 weeks now. I thought it was always 38 weeks.

I'm ready for both induction and c section. I just want it over now!

presidentgerbil · 19/10/2021 20:34

@ByeBumpHiBaby thank you! My first labour ended in an emergency c section, so this will be my second. You would think having been through it before would make me calmer. I've got to be there for 7:30, and we've got to drop my little boy off first so 5am start tomorrow. How long have you got left until yours? Best of luck!

ByeBumpHiBaby · 20/10/2021 09:12

@Bennetgirl I know how you feel, I'm just done. Felt quite emotional yesterday when I found I'd been pushed back by a couple of days because I was so focussed on only having until next Monday. I've shaped up a bit today though Smile

@presidentgerbil I hope you're all settled at the hospital now (possibly even having your little one delivered already?!)
Best of luck today, I hope all goes well for you SmileThanks

@presidentgerbil Good luck, let us know how you get on x

I'm 37 weeks tomorrow and so done now. This baby is huge, it's right up in my ribs so if it isn't still breech, which I'm sure it is, it must be massive because I've always dropped by this point.

Labyrinth86 · 20/10/2021 12:15

My section is booked for 39+3 and could get bumped to the next day if they're busy. From what I've read, 39th week is pretty standard for ELCS because it's best for the baby's lungs.

sarah13xx · 20/10/2021 20:08

Mine was 39+4, first baby though. It was a monday and I was sure something was going to happen over the weekend. I was determined it was going to be calm and not rushed but I just kept imagining it happening the weekend before it and less doctors being in then there being a huge drama! When it came to it I made it to the Monday and it was the most lovely calm experience ever 😊 good luck

Just popping back on to say my elective c-section went really well - I was first on the list so no waiting and by 10am she had been born and was in my arms. It was an amazing experience after the trauma of my first. Managing the pain and recovery at home with a newborn and a 3 year old, now that's difficult.
Best of luck for anyone waiting for their little one to arrive!
