Hi, I'm due to have my 2nd child via elected C-Section on the 26th of this month and I'm wondering if anybody knows about paying for a private room at the RVI in Newcastle Upon Tyne?

Is it a thing? I understand they only have 12 suites but I had such a terrible experience being on a ward after a difficult birth with my first, I really want as little stress as possible with this one. Also, I'm told my partner has to leave and can't stay with me overnight this time round so this is making me worry.

Any help or insight would be massively appreciated :)

As this is so specific you might have more chance of advice if put the same Of the hospital in the title, I hope you get advice . Have you tried looking online for reviews too as sometimes find them I think.

You can ask to talk to a consultant midwife about your anxiety about the birth. Following a traumatic birth and PNA my first time around, the consultant midwife offered me a private room and for my partner to stay. I'm not in your area so they have different policies but my advice would be communicate your worries to your midwife and ask to speak to a consultant about making a birth plan that protects your mental health.

I've been in a private room on the maternity ward both times. The first time I paid £60 for the privilege, the second time was free (I got put there while they awaited the COVID test result and they never moved me- I spent three days there).

Definitely worth asking.
