Pain when peeing after birth

Hi all, i recently gave birth to my lovely daughter about 2 weeks ago. My water broke first, waited 24 hrs, then had the induced labour with epidural. Everything went pretty smooth, thanks to the amazing midwives. I had to have the catheter since the epidural, and it was taken out maybe like 12 hours after the birth. I peed just fine after taking it out.

After one week since birth, i started having this discomfort when i pee. It’s not because of the stiched area, i feel this discomfort on my urethra, have to wait like 10 seconds until i can pee because it’s painful, then once it starts, it feels okay. I feel like the urethra is a bit swollen, and when i dab with toilet paper, i can see the blood from urethra. My gp first thought that it might be uti, prescribed me antibiotics, but nothing improved. I went to do the urine test and now i’m waiting for the result.

Has anyone had similar experience? I also have some lower abdominal pain, hopefully it’s nothing serious. Getting adjusted to the crazy breastfeeding schedule with this problem hasn’t been fun 🥲 and now i think i even got the yeast infection from antibiotics 😭

Congratulations! Did you have a catheter in? I had one and I had aching pain every time I weed for a good few weeks, but it did gradually lessen. I think it was still there at 4 weeks pp but gone by 6 weeks pp.

Sorry I just reread and saw you mentioned the catheter! I think this is what it was for me, and my friend also had similarl

Could still be a UTI, sometimes you need a specific type of antibiotic for it to work. Hope you get your swab results back soon Flowers

I had this too, it's the catheter

Sorry just seen you're having blood too, so in the case might not just be from the catheter !

I had this is was an infection from the catheter, ring the gp and get a sample tested.
