Does anyone have any reviews on the private maternity ward at St Thomas Hospital? I thinking about giving birth there.
Thanks

Bumping this as also keen to know.

Heard that it has been relocated from the Westminster Suite to the Home from Home birth centre due to Covid, but not sure how that will impact things in practice.

I would go for one of the SW London hospitals if your location allows, but online review for Westminster suite appear good.

Most important thing is also a good consultant obstetrician.

It’s great, I would 100% recommend. I had a planned section there back in January.

They're back at their normal location now. I checked yesterday

Sorry my response was supposed to be to the person who posted above you 😅.

Would you mind telling me a bit about your experience their? I'm trying to decide between Westminster Suite, Portland, and Lindo.

@Crystalxuk sorry for the late reply. I had an elective c section there and everything went super smoothly from my antenatal appointments to the surgery and recovery. I loved my room (and the view)! My only complaint was that my husband couldn’t be there because of Covid, that was tough. I believe men are allowed to stay overnight now. My consultant was Mr Kelleher and I would say that my positive experience was mainly thanks to him and his expertise.

I had my son at the lindo by c section in late 2019, and it was nice as in better than nhs but there was a "celebrity" there at the same time as me so you couldn't get painkillers off the midwives for love nor money as they were all crowded round this celeb so considering how much you pay to give birth there it wasn't worth it.

I'm literally about to give birth now and chose the Portland this time, I will report back!

I would love to know your experience at the Portland! Have you met with any doctors yet? How has your experience been so far? Hopefully they're treating you better than Lindo. They are out of the running for me as I emailed for some information and didn't get a response for days and when I did it was very rude.
I'm leaning toward Portland as well!

I'm glad you had a positive experience! That's good that they're allowing husband's to stay now. I also want to have an elective section. How was your recovery? And how were they in terms of pain relief?

@Crystalxuk my recovery was really good, I would say almost no pain by day 5. Even before then it was more discomfort than pain to be honest. They were keeping on top of pain relief in the hospital and prescribed me the same tablets to continue taking at home.

Very positive experiences at Westminster suite. I wanted the proper NHS and NICU backup of Guys & St Thomas' and Portland doesn't offer that.

Mr Kunde was my OBGYN. Absolutely wonderful.

I believe Lindo is also excellent.

Hi! How was your experience at the Portland? I hope you had a great birth and you and baby are well.
