Balloon induction

I am just about to get a foley balloon inserted after a failed propess and failed gel! I just wondered if anyone has had one and what their experience was like? Did it take the whole 24 hours or less? My cervix is currently still closed but soft enough for midwife to get a bit of her finger through

I have it with my second and also that been my second induction I need say I love it easy straight forward and fast labour without any painkiller

@Kadamama you are very lucky then! I have had it in since 12:30 and have had constant belly cramps and lower back pain which has been very uncomfortable and has brought me to tears, I am hoping that means that it's working

I know I think what really helps me I try be active as much as possible even witha baloon I been bouncing on the ball like crazy and walk a lot ...how you doing now

jmildsss · 23/09/2021 21:16

@Kadamama I've been very active on the ball this afternoon which has helped, the cramping are less constant but still painful. The part of the balloon that is taped to my leg seems to be getting longer and longer so I think it might be falling out but don't want to pull on it just in case

I think it took about 12 hours. I stayed overnight in the hospital and my waters broke in the early morning. Good luck!

mobear · 23/09/2021 21:36

Oh, and when my waters broke the balloon fell out too!

jmildsss · 24/09/2021 15:20

@mobear the balloon is out now and I have lost my mucus plug! My cervix is open but the doctor can not get to where the waters are to break them, she didn't say why she couldn't which has left me very confused.

@jmildsss I’m sure they’ll figure out what to do - try not to worry! Even though my waters broke I didn’t progress so they had to give me drugs to get things going.

shas19 · 26/09/2021 22:20

Did it hurt getting it inserted?? Sorry I'm really nervous about potentially having this, the stories ice read don't sound great🤕

mobear · 26/09/2021 22:33

@shas19 I found it uncomfortable but I wouldn’t say it hurt.

jmildsss · 27/09/2021 06:12

@shas19 I wouldn't say it hurt as they gave me gas and air, it was an uncomfortable feeling but the midwife was there to help with my breathing, it was over very quickly!
