Tubes tied during c-section

4th baby due, planned section, thinking about requesting to have my tubes "tied" at the same time.

Anyone else had this done at same time ? Does it effect recovery times ?

This is my first section so not really sure what to expect recovery wise other than what I've read.

I am "finished" with being a baby oven and hormonal contraceptives just don't agree with me - that's how baby 4 has come about Confused

So think this could be a viable option ?

I was going to. But decided against it when they said the stats of it failing are 1 in 200. Plus I was worried about effects on periods etc. if you ask your consultant they will be able to give you information on tubal litigation.

When I asked they said it doesn’t affect recovery times but may take some extra time. Or they may not be able to do it depending on situation.

DH is getting a vasectomy anyway. I wanted both as I felt it would be very liberating (if that’s the right word!) to know I couldn’t get pregnant. But didn’t seem worth it as I couldn’t find much research around it?

I had it done (13 years ago now!) and there were absolutely no issues whatsoever.

Added a few minutes to the caesarean procedure but didn't affect my recovery, it was my third section so I knew the drill by then.

I've not noticed any particular changes to my periods or cycle.

Definitely speak to your doctor about any concerns you have but the procedure itself is very straightforward.
