I'm on the countdown.. 18 days and feeling quite positive and excited about it all. This will be my second baby. Previous natural delivery but came away with low grade prolapse and long horrific recovery. I dont want to potentially risk any further damage down there so I've opted for a section this time.
How are you ladies feeling? I have awful PGP this time round and I am soooo fed up with being pregnant now. I also nearly choked on my own acid last night in bed which was a lovely experience. The heartburn is real! 🙈
So ready for her arrival now I am dying for newborn snugs!

Hey there, I'm having a C section in 12 days. Also my second child, my first one was an emergency section and because of the way they had to do it this one has to be a Caesarean too. The circumstances were dramatic at my first delivery but physically it actually went ok, my recovery was quick and I didn't have any lasting consequences so I'm feeling positive about this. I also have a horrible acid reflux and my belly is much bigger than my first, honestly I'm done with this.

@Frezia ^^ apologies, pressed post before typing message 😆
How was your recovery physically? Sorry you had a rough deal of it first time round. This time should be much more relaxing and straight forward for you. Do you know what you're having and how old is your current DC?
I'm a little worried about how I'm going to be physically after the op and the pain etc but in all honesty I'm not sure it could be worse than I'm feeling now. My calves, ankles and feet are swollen and tight and my belly is super heavy too. I had a growth scan at 36 weeks and she was estimated at 6lb 12oz but I think I could be carrying a biggie this time. My DD was 8lb 6oz.

I'm having my section two weeks today at 38+6. Traumatic first birth resulting in a crash section. I recovered well but my daughter was in NICU for a week with strep and sepsis so opted for a calmer, more controlled birth this time 😂🙏

37 weeks tomorrow and feel like poop today. Tired, achey, sick.. Not sleeping well. 14 days and counting!!!

MyGrassIsBrowner · 16/09/2021 13:35

@Chameleon2021 Eeeek not long lady! This time round should be a much better experience for you!
I'm feeling achey and sick too, cant get comfortable in bed and pissing like a racehorse lol. I dread having to get out of bed when I need to go!

Chameleon2021 · 16/09/2021 14:40

Bloody awful isnt it!

I had to go for an MRSA swab today (nose and groin) ahead of the section which was wildly undignified and something I never want to repeat 😂😂

MyGrassIsBrowner · 16/09/2021 14:53

@Chameleon2021 I've got my pre op on the 2nd so I reckon I'll have to get that too.. can't wait! 😂

Chameleon2021 · 16/09/2021 15:16

My pre op including covid test is on the 28th and then we have to isolate for 2 days.. Including my 10 year old. She's chuffed to be missing school haha!!

MyGrassIsBrowner · 16/09/2021 16:03

@Chameleon2021 Yes us too! Thankfully DP can get a couple of days off work to isolate before his paternity starts. Haha bet your DD is chuffed!! What's the visiting like at your hospital? My DP can be with me in theatre/recovery and help me get set up on the ward then he has to go but can come back for 2hr visiting slots with a negative LFT. I have only just been discharged from a 24 hour hospital stay as I thought my labour was starting early (thankfully cervix was completely closed) think I've just massively overdone it. The ward wasn't as daunting as I'd expected tbh but the staff were certainly stretched so I am hoping I'm back on my feet fairly quickly.

I have a ELCS booked in a weeks time!

First baby, diagnosed late with GD and baby measuring big. Discussed option of being induced this week or ELCS next week @ 39 weeks...opted for section as am under perinatal mental health team anyway due to anxiety around lots of birth trauma in my family.

Feel a mixture of many, many things! Quite apprehensive about recovery as everyone keeps telling me how painful it is but mostly just excited to meet our boy and relieved that I won't be heavily pregnant and so uncomfortable for much longer!

MyGrassIsBrowner · 16/09/2021 16:28

@LunaDreams I hope your section goes amazingly lovely. I have heard so many positive stories and a lot of ladies report that they wished they'd had a section off the bat for their first baby. As long as you're keeping up with pain meds, keeping an eye on your incision and not going too mad afterwards the recovery for most (without complications) is fairly quick. I do feel for you dealing with GD on top of your pregnancy, it's just absolutely mental that it disappears as soon as the placenta leaves your body. Do you know what your bubs estimated weight is?

Chameleon2021 · 16/09/2021 17:16

My section last time was a real nightmare emergency situation. When the surgeon got to me, she had sprinted from the cafeteria. It was quite traumatic on my body, the spinal didn't have time to fully work before they cut so I could feel it and went into shock. I'm telling you this because even with all that, and the doctor having her foot on the table pulling baby out full force from my pelvis, my recovery was perfect with no complications!! So a planned and controlled section will be a doddle!!!

I was up and about same day. Definitely keep on top of pain killers, I was totally fine when dosed up so will keep a reminder on my phone this time. Take a pillow to hold against your tummy for the drive home!!

My hospital is allowing partners the whole time, they can stay overnight too and siblings can visit the ward so I'm very happy although will aim to be out asap this time!!

jessicakxx · 16/09/2021 18:55

I'm booked for my section 3 weeks tomorrow, I can't wait! Hope everyone's goes well xxx

MyGrassIsBrowner · 16/09/2021 21:14

@Chameleon2021 Jesus that sounded horrific. Well hopefully this time it will be a world away from that!! I'm always happy to hear the positive and negative stories as I'm under no illusion it'll be a walk in the park but after my first birth and recovery I doubt I could be worse off.
Thankfully our hospital literally 2 minutes from my house so my car journey home will be very quick, although I will note to DP to bring my pillow haha!

MyGrassIsBrowner · 16/09/2021 21:18

@jessicakxx hey hun, what date you booked in for? Is this your first bubs?

Bizarely I've already signed my consent forms (which I assumed I would have to do on the day) they've told me I need to be on the ward by 8am so I'm praying I'll be first in theatre!

OP posts:
jessicakxx · 16/09/2021 21:25

Yes it's my first and I'm Booked for 8th October! I've got my pre-op 1st October. My letter for the section date tells me to get to the delivery suite for 7:30, so I too am hoping I'm in quite quick!

When is yours booked for?

I'm really hoping my baby doesn't try and make an early appearance! Xx

MyGrassIsBrowner · 16/09/2021 21:32

@jessicakxx Awww that's my actual due date! I'm booked in for pre op on the 2nd then we have to isolate.

I was in hospital 24 hours only recently (was discharged yest evening) cause I thought my labour had started. I went in with horrific back pains and genuinely believed this is it lol. Turns out I've probably just overdone it, my blood pressure was sky high though and that's what concerned them more than anything. I did have an internal done though and my cervix was closed so I too hope it stays that way for now 😂

Eeek I bet you're excited, do you know what you're having? Xx

poodlepip · 16/09/2021 22:17

Joining you ladies with elcs at 39 weeks. FTM due to high risk issues.

I have done forms, swabs, bloods and waiting for a date, should be around 6th Oct

My thing for the morning says to have lucozade and omeprazole at 6 am. They said everyone arrives same time at 7 and they work through the list til 2 so may be waiting a wee while!!

Chameleon2021 · 16/09/2021 22:22

Mine says 7am too! Was hoping I'd be first on the list 😂

Yeh despite all the issues last time, I'm looking forward to it this time! It really didn't worry me having the section and I'm happy to be having another. Imo it's far preferable than another traumatic experience!!

LunaDreams · 17/09/2021 08:32

@MyGrassIsBrowner at my the growth scan at 37 weeks they estimated baby weighed about 8lbs so my 39 weeks he will be more like 9lbs I'm guessing! Although I know they're not exact science. Yeah the GD thing is bizarre, I can't believe it got picked up so late for me (although secretly quite glad as has meant I haven't had to go too long without cake and choc!)

MyGrassIsBrowner · 17/09/2021 08:55

@poodlepip congrats!! Wow I'm suprised they are allowing you to have Lucozade, they've told me nil by mouth for 12 hours before (which is gonna kill me lol) and only sips of water. Then I have two lots of anti sickness tablets to take the evening before and morning of.

@Chameleon2021 I'm sure us ladies are going to be just fine! I'm excited for us now!!

@LunaDreams Oh I love big babies! But yeah the estimated weights can be way out lol. I'd be proud of a 9lber though!

I had the GD test done at around 26 weeks thankfully it came back negative but I feel really sorry for women who get it, it's a massive lifestyle change and the constant monitoring would drive me batty!

How is everyone doing?

I have 8 days left now. Making final adjustments around the house and sorting bits and bobs out. Need to get the car seat fitted at some point! In for my pre op and covid tests on Tuesday and then we are self isolating until D day on Thurs!

I am really crampy today. Ive had constant, intense and sometimes very regular braxton hicks throughout and today is really bad. Every 5 minutes or so. They don't seem to be getting closer or worse so will ride them out and I'm sure they'll disappear as they always do!!

MyGrassIsBrowner · 22/09/2021 18:13

@Chameleon2021 hey love, I'm muddling through, 12 days left for me bit wish it was sooner tbh I'm fed up 😩 how are you?

My feet are swelling really badly and I had a stint in hospital a few days back for lower back pain and then they picked up that I had really high blood pressure so now I'm having to see the midwife twice weekly for BP and urine checks. Now been told they're watching me for pre-eclampsia so fretting about that now.
I bet you're getting excited now! I am excited but going to be bricking it the morning I'm admitted x

OP posts:
Chameleon2021 · 23/09/2021 09:33

Started timing the braxton hicks last night and they were every 10 minutes for over 3 hours, not necessarily painful but definitely intense. Managed to fall asleep and woke between 2 and 3 and they were every 5 mins. Went downstairs, had a drink, wander, watched a bit of TV and went back to bed. Woken this morning to them STILL being here but only every 10 mins. I'm knackered and my body is hating me!

I'm going to go for a long walk which should either kill them off or ramp them up hopefully I'll know either way later on.

Baby is breech so would need to contact hospital if things do progress but I'm still really unsure. It just seems far too long a period and far too regular to be braxton hicks?! I dunno 🤔😣

Chameleon2021 · 23/09/2021 09:38

Here's some of them. I got a bit lazy and kept forgetting to push the button such as the 17 minute one (and obviously the end one was when I gave up entirely)! The second picture is 2am this morning and I went back to sleep/gave up timing after this.
