Herpes 2, outbreak at 36 weeks

So my worst nightmare has happened and I have an outbreak coming on at 36 weeks, picked up aciclovir on Friday so I'm so gutted 😢

Wanted to go to the MLU as its literally 2 minutes from my house and where I had my 2nd dc and now I don't know whats going to happen.

Anyone with hsv2 know how long I have to be clear from the sore to use the MLU still?

Both my previous DC came just after 37 weeks so if this one comes early too then there's a risk the infection will be passed onto her too :( I would accept a csection but my next issue is that my labours are precipitous and doubt I would make it to hospital in time (separate to MLU and is 25 minutes away)

Trying not to stress but feel like everything's gone up in the air now :( just needed a rant! Going to speak with my midwife tomorrow morning to see if she can advise me on what's going to happen, just gutted!

I don’t know anything about herpes, but I didn’t want to read and run as I can totally tell how you must be feeling from your post. Did you get any further information from your midwife this morning?

@CaptainWentworth aw thank you! I calmed down a bit once I had posted and looked at some NHS links and what they would do in regards to this happening, I think I stressed alot to begin with because I looked at Dr Google 😅 as long as the sore has gone (which it normally does go quickly - but average is about a week) then all will be fine as baby gets my anti bodies! So I just want her to stay put till atleast 38 weeks then I can continue my plan with MLU

Hope it all goes well! Congratulations when the time comes 😊 🎉

Have you got meds to take you up to your due date rather than just a week course? If not I’d ask for that as worrying about an outbreak may well bring on another. Tell your midwife so they know and can alert anyone that needs to be aware. Don’t stress, it’ll be ok xx

@Ummm21 hiya yes have 3 boxes, the lot I picked up Friday was to see me through till the end and the lady gave extra so I could continue taking while healing as that's the last thing I'd want after birth too Blush . My next appointment is this Thursday so I'll bring it up to her then as well, thank you I do hope so!xx

Ah ok that’s good. I had similar, had a mild outbreak the day I picked them up at 35 weeks. But after 2 days of 3x tablets a day and smothering it in 8hr cream (Elizabeth Arden) it’s all gone now. Good luck xx
