Anyone gone into labour from 1 sweep

So I had first sweep today at 40+4 she said my cervix was high up but it was soft and said it’s started doing something she told me to go on a walk which I have. Just wondering if one sweep ever worked for anyone as everyone I asked say they don’t work

It worked for me. Was 40+5 had my sweep in the afternoon, went home and bounced on my birthing ball and made dinner.grumbled at my DH that it hadn't worked, went to bed and woke to my waters breaking at 2am. Fingers crossed for you

I had mine at 40+5 and went into labour at 40+8. It was such a weird feeling.

Worked for me too. I had one at 40 +1 and they told me it hadn’t worked as my cervix was closed - I started contractions at midnight that evening. Had another at 40+4 (which they thought might work as apparently they had a “good go at it”) and went into labour 12 hours later. Good luck! X

Hopefully it works for me too was your cervix dilated when you had your sweep? She didn’t tell me if mine was or not she just said it feels thin and has started doing something ready for labour so I’m not sure if that means it’s dilated at all or not

I can't remember to be honest. It was a 41 hour labour with complications and I don't quite remember what happened when but I think she said it was favourable but I don't think I was dilated. Personally, I reckon I'd have been a few more days climbing the walls trying to get labour going without it.

I had a sweep on a Saturday morning and went into labour Sunday evening. Not sure if the two were related though as I was already 2cm when I had the sweep.

Worked for me twice! Had sweeps in the morning and went into labour around 10pm both times. Good luck!

Worked for me second time around.
Sweep at 40+5 and felt like I immediately went into labour. Sweep was around lunchtime, pains straight away. Into hospital just after tea time and gave birth a few hours later.
The hospital staff joked that my midwife had magic fingers… apparently she gave very effective sweeps!

Hey, yeah my waters broke 30 seconds after I had a sweep! I was only 39 & 4 days.
