I'm 13 days post c-section, when can I bathe?

Just that really.

I'm 13 days on from a c-section, I wasn't given any information on when I could bathe. Google has conflicting answers. I can't remember how long I left it last time, as I had clamps and staples the first time around I think I gave it 3 weeks

This time I have dissolvable stitches and the wound appears to be fine, healing perfectly fine and the dressing was removed on day 5.

I'm having quite heavy loss and period cramps as well as achey boobs so I would loveeeee a hot bath.

Any advice?
Much appreciated x

I was told I could when I got the dressing removed. The midwife said it was a good way to get the sticky bits of the dressing off! Just no perfumed products and dab it dry gently after.

I think once you can get back out of the bath safely? And make sure the wound is dried off properly, I think just air drying is the best?

Yeah I think quite quickly...my incision looked a bit dodgy around the 3 week mark (it turned out fine, no issues) and I was told I should be bathing rather than showering to ensure it was properly clean so definitely by then.

Gosh I had a bath the next day whilst still in hospital. A very kind nurse helped me in and out.

I love baths more than anything on earth and had a c-section 2 weeks ago. I was under the impression I couldn’t have one even though no one had said. At 1 week the community midwife told me to go for a bath to get the sticky plaster off my wound. I was really confused like ‘wait, I’m allowed a bath?!’. Turns out I am 😊 I felt like the water would be getting in during the first bath but it doesn’t sting or anything and is sooo good to be able to have one

After my first c section the lovely midwife drew me a teatree bath so I always assumed it was fine as soon as you felt comfortable.

I meant to say it was the day after my c section so very quickly!

Workinghardeveryday · 25/08/2021 19:41

I had one the next day, sure you will be fine!

Hope you're running yourself a lovely bath right now, OP! Or better yet, getting someone else to run it for you Grin

ajja2021 · 25/08/2021 19:44

Thanks so much for the replies, the bath is now running Grin I love a bath, both my DS's are sleeping so I have a couple of quiet hours till the next feed and honestly I'm so excited to have a bath haha!

I had a bath as soon as I had feeling back in my legs,so maybe 12 hours after the section .

Midwife told me to just remember the longer the dissolvable stitches sit in water the looser they'll become.
