Had an EMC last June in a nutshell because I was exhausted and only at 4cm after 26 hours and they wanted to put me on the drip to speed things up but with a failed epidural and my feelings towards the drip anyway I opted for a section in hindsight I wish I had tried the drip but hey ! (First baby by the way)
I'm due early Nov there wil be 15/16 month gap between births my consultant is happy for me to have either I am swaying more for a VBAC because I dread the recovery of a section with effectively 2 babies I don't have support other than my husband who works offshore he will have 2 weeks off maybe more but definitely 2 weeks.
I am nervous about tearing badly and ending up in a. Right state but I am going to do perineal massage and ask for a compress holding on the area when pushing. I guess in a nutshell I'm asking what would you do ??
The reason for section wasn't anything traumatic baby was happy I was ok and I was dilating just slowly but probably because it was my first birth??
I keep doubting that I won't actually be able to manage it I think I'm abit scared becayse epidurals are meant to be the god of pain relief and it was shit so I would try to not have one this time I want to remain active and upright I had a tens machine which I really liked at home flr 14 hours but lost the plot when I got to hospital in general.

Thoughts .. questions .. thanks in advance it will really help to get a wide variety of opinions x

I had an EMCS with DD1 after the cord got wrapped around her neck so her heartbeat was all over the place. It was intense and frightening but I still opted for an Elective second time around with DD2. Mainly because I'd already gone 11 days overdue with DD1 and had to be induced - a long and v uncomfortable process which at the end only resulted in the EMCS. I know others who've gone for a VBAC as they wanted to experience a natural birth but for me, I just neede the certainty that it would happen on a specific date and without all the rigmarole I experienced first time around.

Thanks for replying @TheHuntingOfTheSarky that
Sounds v traumatic sorry you went through that. Mine is a different situation nothing traumatic just v slow progress and waters went naturally 3 days overdue ..

I also had emergency section after failure to pass 4cm. Had a v bac with second, with 3rd it was elective section due to complications, preferred my v bac the most and recovered quickest. Needing a lot of help after this section with older 2 (4and 2), wound hasn’t healed well and needed extra care. If you want a v bac then go for it!

Thanks @birdglasspen do you mean complication with your third pregnancy needing section not to do with your VBAC x
