I'm having my first baby via csection at Princess Alexandra in Harlow in next couple of weeks. Just had a few qs for any mums that have had their babies here recently.

  • did you get to do skin to skin right away? (Mine is a planned elec if all goes to plan)
  • Did anyone do delayed cord clamping?
  • how did you find the care during your stay?
  • how long before you were discharged?
  • has anyone had a private room? If so how much did it cost and did this mean your partner could visit more/for longer? Could other family members visit a private room?
  • I'm trying not to overpack, do you think bringing an extra pillow would be overkill or useful?
  • did you have blood thinning injections? Do they offer any kind of help with this after you are discharged because no way am I going to be able to stab myself Confused
  • how strict were covid visiting rules? Seems like our parents won't get to meet baby until I'm discharged from what it says on the website.
  • any other advice or things you wish you'd known?

Thanks :)
