C-section recovery

I’m 1 week post c-section and had a really positive experience 😊 The first week was a million times easier than I had been expecting and I’ve been able to move around the house and go on a short walk. I was told to peel off my dressing yesterday so did it in the bath and omg 🤦🏼‍♀️ It was like waxing myself extremely slowly. Took over an hour to come off and was almost like melted glue getting peeled off. I’ve now gone from feeling great yesterday and hardly taking any pain killers to feeling back to about day 2 pain wise. It’s really nippy feeling when I move or things rub on it and more what I actually expected it to be like at the start. I think it’s probably just a bit raw on the surface and after a few days will be fine.

I’m still just wearing my high waisted cotton pants but is there anything better to wear to make it feel a bit less exposed? Feel like I want some kind of padding in front of it!

Hopefully it’s just your skin that’s sore. I’ve had 2 sections with 2 different consultants but each time I was told to take the dressing off in the shower the following morning so keeping it on for a week sounds a bit strange and I’m not surprised your skin hurts. Don’t shy away from the painkillers if you’re not comfortable. I find c section recovery does come in waves so one you’ll feel great and then you might overdo it and the next you’ll be sore. If you’re feeling like you need some support around the incision then I find high waisted tight yoga leggings are good.

I put a maternity pad in front of mine for extra padding until it felt less tender.

Clean and allow it to air dry several times a day.
Mine gets really tight and is much bigger this time as I had a very big baby. Mine was 8 days ago, a bit rougher than my 1st cs as I went in to labour a day before my elcs date this time. I'm back to doing a lot of things but bending to the floor is still difficult, more painful on right side. Feels so much better after I've had a shower too, the warmth helps relax everything. I had a honeycomb bandage that had to come off on day 5.
