Irregular contractions 7-10 mins

Hi everyone!

I’ve been having irregular contractions for over 12 hours now (stopping for 2 hours midway and then restarting). And for the last 4 hours they are irregular with intervals of 7-10 mins. They last 1 min and do get more intense. Is this still not true labour? I’m so exhausted and desperate to see some progress. How long were your contractions not progressing before you saw them closing in? This is my second baby. My first labour was fast and furious and I was never in doubt. But this time it’s dragging on forever, it’s intensely painful but not really progressing! Just looking for some stories!

Could be that baby isn’t quite in position. I would spend some time on all fours or flopped over a birthing ball to see if that helps get things moving. Alternatively, if things have calmed down I’d consider trying to get some rest/sleep first. Is baby moving ok? Are you well otherwise?

The baby is moving and it’s not calming down. And yes, I feel kicking in my side so very possible baby is not in the position. So all fours all the way then Grin

Hope you are ok.

Baby girl was born a couple of hours after I posted a question. The contractions were irregular because the baby was back to back and could not get into a proper position. But the contractions were so strong I decided to go to the hospital. When I arrived I was almost fully dilated, my waters were broken and I had my baby 1 h later. So I guess I was another example where the standard frequency rules didn’t apply.

Congratulations 💐💖

Congratulations! I did wonder if baby was back to back - both of mine have been, and it’s been quite similar, irregular contractions, not quite getting moving, and for me long labours. Glad it went well!

Congratulations! I was just going to ask if baby was back to back. My DD the contractions were really irregular and the midwife was sure I had hours to go as it wasn’t the normal fast and furious Labour but suddenly DD was out! Never seen such a shocked bunch of midwifes. It was handover time and our midwife was just explaining that I had hours to go yet etc and suddenly I’m like here she comes 😂
