Was in labour and contracting for 26 hours with my daughter ended in section only getting to 4cm can I ask anyone in similar situations was your second birth smoother even if you didn't get anywhere near pushing or 10cm with your first ? My midwife keeps trying to reassure me my body will remember what to do this time but I'm dubious ?!

First birth was induction and ended in forceps delivery after spinal. Horrific.

2 nd was 2.5 hour labour born nice and calmly without any active pushing from me. No tears no trauma. Absolutely perfect birth. Was in a pool at home.

Lots of threads about this which should reassure you.
First back to back, 2 days then epidural and came out fine with induction hormone help.
Second exactly the same. Except I knew to ask for the epidural 24 hours sooner and didn't take any shit. (Best line ever when the consultant finally appeared 'this is the consultant ' (hushed aura, everyone stepped back) me: 'Well Im one too and I've been waiting for you for 2.5 hours '
Good luck. Don't worry too much, go with the flow and ask when you need help. (Or scream it) xx

First birth was 20 hours, induction, spinal, episiotomy and forceps. Took a long time to recover from.

Second took an hour from start to birth and we didn't make it to hospital. The midwife team came out to us once I'd delivered and sorted out the placenta and stitches etc which was a couple of hours.

I didn't have the urge to push with my first due to the epidural and spinal but the second time my body just took over and there was no stopping it. It was 'easy' compared to the first but still bloody hurt.

Good luck, you'll be fine however it goes Grin

Also, both were back to back if that helps at all.
