So with my first child i reallllly wanted a water birth, I ended up being induced and baby was distressed and pooped inside of me so I had to be monitored the whole time so I couldn’t have a water birth..

I am now 10 weeks pregnant with my second and was looking forward to the chance to have a water birth this time.. only to read I can’t because my bmi is over 35! I feel so deflated :(

How high over 35 is it?

A friend was in the same situation and with the midwife’s support, did a weight loss programme to safely bring her weight down. She was probably 36/37 at her booking in appointment though.

my bmi is higher than yours and I had a water birth. I had to speak to a senior midwife and demonstrate that I could get myself in and out of the pool.

to be honest though it was terrible. did nothing to help with pain and once I got past 5cm I had to get out and beg for pain relief
