Painful sweep

Hi everyone,

Just wondering if anyone had a similar experience to me. I'm 40 +5 and had a sweep today which was extremely painful. She said I was 1cm dilated and my cervix was still very hard. She did tell me that I lost my mucus plug during the sweep

Does anyone know how long it takes for the cervix to soften? Does everyone lose their mucus plug during a sweep?

I had a sweep in the morning (aren't they horrible) and delivered that evening, I'd already lost the plug. Good luck.

...And the verdict on my cervix at the time was the same, 1cm ish not soft.
